107 Ashley Ave was built by Thomas Corbett who was planter on land which his wife Elizabeth Harleston inherited from her John Harleston. Francis J Pelzer was one of the houses prominent later occupants, his initials are etched in the glass of the front door.
113 Ashley Ave is the Bennett McElhenny House. the house was built by Gov Thomas Bennett on the only high point of and on Lynch Street now Ashley Ave. the house sold to Susan McElhenny who's daughter married Paul Hamilton Hayne. their son Paul Hamiliton Hayne was born here in the home in 1830

Theodore Gaillard House Jr was a factory and planter who bought the site in 1803 and competed the house by 1816. Dr Willis Wilkinson bought the house in 1825, he had two daughters who married the same man, the first sister passed away and then as Christopher Gustavus Memminger who was a Confederate secretary of the Treasury took the second sister to the grave site to visit the first sister had a miss understanding and later married.

91 Ashley Avenue Frances Carrere Robertson House built this two and a half story home in the Queen Ann Style. Mr. and Mrs. Robertson lived in this home until Mr. James Robertson passed in 1934. Then Mrs. Robertson sold the home and stayed in the house as a tenant for her final years.
95 Ashley Avenue This single house was built in the mid 19th century by William A Courtenay and was remolded between 1883 and 1893. William Ashmead Courtenay was Mayor of Charleston from 1831 to 1908

76 Ashley Avenue was the John Hume Simons House, he acquired this property threw marriage to his cousin Mary Hume Lucas and they had 8 children, and lived very comfortably in this 2 story home. the huge double drawing rooms were used for Worship by St. Marys Roman Catholic Church. Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Robinson purchased the home in 1960.
90 Ashley Avenue was built by Dr. Joseph Glover who built this two story home and used it as a rental home. in the 19th century it was remolded in the Qyeen Anne style. the Toale family owned it from 1881 to 1894 and the Doscher family owned it from 1894 to 1966. 

Were off to the Greeks. So cool fun fact, Charlestons first Greek immigrant was Maria Gracia Turnbull, who may have been the first Greek woman in North America. Maria and her husband Andrew arrived in Charleston in 1781. The Greek Orthodox Church has always been the focal point of the local Greek community. In 1908 the first Greek Orthodox Liturgy was performed in St. Johns Episcopal Church. In March of 1911 The Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church was built. in 1960 Demetrios Liollio designed a school building behind the Hellenic Center. 

Today well be talking about the Germans that immagrated to Charleston. Early Settlers from Germany areas came from Switzerland, Austria, Bohemia and other areas leaving behind famine, war, and hunger for the possibility of a better life in the New World. The Germans came over in small waves in the 18th Century. The first German Lutherans held their first recorded worship service in Charleston in 1734. The Second wave of immigrants come in the mid 19th century. Germans participated fully in the Southern Cause during the Civil War, raising six militia companies and an artillery battalion.

The first Scots in Charleston arrived in the late 17th century. in 1685 they united with Huguenots from France, Congregationalists from England and New England, and other Christians from Ireland to form the Independent Church of Charleston on Meeting Street, where the Circular Congregational Church now Stands. in 1731 twelve Scottish families, about 30 people, withdrew peaceably from Congregational Church so they could form a church that would be governed according to the form and discipline of the Church of Scotland.  The new church became known as the "Scots Kirk" or Scots Meeting House, and in 1734 they built a wooden structure at Meeting and Tradd Streets as a place of worship.

Though no record exists, legend has it that Spanish priests celebrated Mass in the area as early as 1526, long before Charles Townes English settlers arrived in 1670. Catholics came to colonial Carolina despite a ban on Catholicism enacted for fear that Catholics would conspire with the Spanish against the English colony. However, there were no established Catholic congregations until after the American Revolution.

The English expedition that established the first Carolina settlement stopped at Kinsale, County Cork, Ireland, to recruit Irish servants, but did not meet with much success. To many Catholic Irish, the Americas were a place of banishment from where no one ever returned. Nonetheless, some Irish, especially Protestants, did come to the early colony. The 18th century also saw a large influx of Scots/Irish settlers to South Carolinas interior and some established businesses in Charleston. Most settled on the upper part of the peninsula were instrumental in founding the Second Presbyterian Church in 1809. One of those founder James Adger from County Antrim was a merchant on upper King Street, though later he moved south of Broad to a house on Meeting Street.

Charleston is home to one of the oldest Jewish settlements in the United States. Jews began arriving her as early as 1694 and by 1800 Charleston boasted the largest population in North American. The First Immigrants were mainly Sephardim, people of Spanish and Portuguese ancestry, who came from England, the Netherlands and the West Indies to Charles Town, the new British outpost in North America. over the course of the 18th Century, increasing numbers of Ashkenazic Jews came from the German Speaking states and Poland, and from Atlantic coast seaports.
